Castellino is a large country house
near an ancient fortress that towers over the Niccone valley. The house
traces its roots back to the 14th century.
It is private and detached, with outstanding views looking over
the valley to another ruined castle in Tuscany with the Umbrian village
of Lisciano Niccone and Mercatale di Cortona in Tuscany.
Both villages are just a few minutes away and have all
services needed on holiday including three restaurants.
The house is top quality and sympathetically restored
to its old charm. It is very comfortably furnished with all modern fittings
including stereo system, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, TV/ video
cassette player and netted windows.
The main door, as was traditional in farmhouses,
is from a walled loggia approached by external stairs.
On the ground floor is a spacious living room with French doors opening
directly on to a large well furnished patio area with superb views -
ideal for al fresco dining.
Leading through a wide doorway is the large
kitchen and dining room with an original 14th century working fireplace.
Very well equipped with plenty of space and a loggia leading to a shady
stone tiled courtyard, the organic vegetable patch, an orchard and the
well.
On the other side of the living room is a large double bedroom with
its own sitting area and bathroom next door with a walk in shower. This
bedroom also has french doors opening up to an outdoor sitting area
on the patio. Also on the ground floor is a utility room with washer
and dryer.
Stairs from living room to a large sitting room with
sofas and coffee table etc. On one side are two bedrooms, each with
two beds, which share a bathroom (shower). On the other side of the
sitting room is a bedroom with double bed and ensuite large bathroom
with both shower and tub.
There
is a tree house in the well-maintained garden, which takes advantage
of the hillside location with slopes and terraces, numerous well-furnished
shady sitting areas and a traditional stone built, wood fired BBQ.
The 50-foot pool takes full advantage of the sloping terraces to provide
breathtaking views of treetops and ancient castles.
