The location of Casa Castiglione on the western side of Lake Trasimeno gives you easy access to the rail networks and roads for touring Tuscany and Umbria, it is also near to the castellated lakeside town of Castiglione del Lago (5 minutes by car) and the village of San Fatucchio (2-3 minutes by car) where you will find a small, but very well stocked supermaket, butcher's shop, pizzeria and restaurant. Situated in gently rolling countryside, the villa is not overlooked by other properties and has an easy access road, security gates and ample space for three or four cars to park.
The swimming pool is open from May through to September.
Villa Layout
This roomy holiday villa has two floors, three of the four bedrooms are upstairs, whilst the open plan communal areas (kitchen, dining room and living room) are on the ground floor along with the fourth bedroom. There are three bathrooms upstairs ( one en-suite) and another (en-suite) bathroom downstairs plus wc / cloakroom.
Ground Floor The main entrance to the villa leads to a large living room with comfortable sofas, TV and DVD player (no satellite TV), hi-fi and Bose i-pod dock. From here a wide arch leads through into the well appointed kitchen / dining room from where you also have access to the shaded outdoor eating area and garden. The kitchen has everything you would expect from a villa of this standard and is spacious and light.
A double en suite bedroom is also accessed from the living room. There is also a seperate WC / cloakroom with hand-basin and washing machine on the ground floor.
First Floor
There are a total of three bedrooms and three bathrooms on the upper level of the villa. The double master bedroom has an en suite travertine bathroom with bathtub and shower. The two other twin bedrooms have their own travertine bathrooms, both accessed from directly opposite the bedroom doors.
One of these bedrooms has a superb extra feature, a balcony / roof terracce with views acroos the surrounding countryside of Tuscany and Umbria
The villa is well placed for seeing Tuscany and Umbria:
Within an hour are Cortona (20 minutes), Siena (45), Pienza (30), Assisi (50), Orvieto (40), Perugia (35), Montepulciano (25). Florence takes just over an hour by car but is best by train as is Rome which is about two hours; both easy day trips.
