The holiday house is private but not isolated and it is a short drive to the villages where you will find supermarkets, butchers, bakers, bars, restaurants and post offices.
The living accommodation is on the middle (first) floor of the holiday villa (the upper floor is unrestored, keeping the house cool in summer), it has terracotta floors and beamed ceilings throughout. External steps lead up to an open, walled terrace or loggia with outdoor dining table and an extendable sun-awning. It is a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening with views of the Tuscan landscape and sun all day.

The sitting area is next to the fireplace and is furnished with sofas and easy chairs, there is satellite TV and DVD player.
The main double bedroom is at the front of the house, off the main room with a high beamed ceiling. It has an a newly installed ensuite bathroom with large shower. A short corridor from the back of the living room leads to the other two bedrooms: one with double bed and the other (two singles). These bedrooms share the second bathroom (shower).

It has a wide paved stone surround and is accessed via a gate from a covered open sided barn. Next to the barn and pool is an outdoor table tennis table.
All that is shown in the pictures and described above is private to guests at the holiday house. The owners have an apartment at the other side of the building on the ground floor where they stay when occasionally in Italy. The house manager, a good cook, can provide a meal by arrangement for your first evening and always leaves a welcome pack.

Our family of 5 (3 kids between 4 and 9) had a wonderful, relaxing holiday at Casa Gorgacce and heartily recommend it for families, friends and couples. The house is comfortable, clean and has all one needs. The wifi worked well throughout our stay. It is very easy distance to Mercatale village which we enjoyed visiting everyday for shopping, coffees and ice cream. We ate twice at Mercatale's Trattoria Mimmi which is very good value and very tasty.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Casa Gorgacce and we liked Pasqualina's lasagne so much that we arranged with her to provide a second one for another couple of meals.
We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Casa Gorgacce. It is a very comfortable house and ideal for two couples. Beautifully clean and tidy and well-equipped. We rented bikes in nearby Lisciano Niccone and it was no problem to cycle into the village in the morning for coffees and shopping. The bikes enabled us to explore the lovely countryside, brimming with flowers close up. The pool warmed up while we were there and it is lovely relaxing spot. Most enjoyable was having a drink on the loggia in the evening, or breakfast in the morning, enjoying the views.
We really enjoyed our stay here and were sad to leave! It's a great place to stay if you're looking for an isolated home in the Italian countryside, to relax. We liked hanging out at the table outside the front door, so we could stay in the shade and have a nice view. Emma and everybody else we talked to were very responsive and helpful. They took care of a nearby hornets nest, and fixed the wifi quickly. Not in the photos, they also have a big DVD collection there in case you get bored.
We had a lovely time At Casa Gorgacce. The villa was perfect and very well equipped. Just as advertised! We would visit again without hesitation.
We had a wonderful time and loved Casa Gorgacce. We do like an element of privacy and peace and the villa certainly gave us that. There was also a great deal to do. We visited Siena, Assisi, Gubbio, Cortona and Florence. We also travelled to near Terni and some spectacular waterfalls and we enjoyed Polvese and the wine-tasting. So lots of activity and plenty of relaxation in between. We were very impressed with the support and assistance given by Martyn and Emma when needed and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending your villas.
Thank you so much, we had a glorious time there
It has such a beautiful position - both within the valley but also in terms of ease of access to Cortona, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Perugia etc
Wine tasting was great too and I have a few bottles with me in the kitchen to drink
We had the most amazing holiday in Tuscany and thoroughly enjoyed staying in Casa Gorgacce. The house had everything we needed, including the fantastic views! The children made the most of the pool; we had many table tennis tournaments and the sheltered barn was lovely to cool off when the weather warmed up.
We have made many family memories of our Italian holiday and hope to return again one year.
Please pass on our sincere thanks to Sheila and David for making us feel welcome after a long drive. The wine from the local vineyard was much appreciated.
A beautiful property and location. We fell completely in love with Tuscany having been to several other parts of Italy, there is no comparison.
I would like to start this review by saying Casa Gorgacce was exactly what we were looking for in a Tuscany farm villa. We loved it. This place puts you in the middle of the Tuscany culture. It was a quiet spot to relax & unwind, after a day of discovering all of Tuscany's quaint little hill towns. Siena, Montone, Assisi, Montepulciano, & Cortona were some of the towns we visited during our week stay. All of these places were easy day trips, from where Gorgacce is located. Also, located nearby, were two of the best restaurants we ate at during the entire trip, “Girasoli di Sant' Andrea” a restaurant-winery & “Locanda di Nonna Gelsa” a family owned establishment. The villa was very clean, & has been up dated with modern amenities, such as television, microwave, Wi-Fi, but still has the rustic look & feel of “Back in the Day” Tuscany. The pool was a nice added touch, but being from Texas & New Jersey, the weather had to be warmer, for us to take a dip. If you prefer to experience a way of life, instead of 5 star luxury hotel, Gorgacce will not disappoint.
